“Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.” Hebrews 5:8
Fulfilling purpose is not a walk in the park, most times, it’s a journey through fire. It comes with pressing, pruning, and pain.
Divine assignments are costly and God doesn’t hide that truth. The path to purpose is paved with trials that shape us and tests that stretch us.
Look at Joseph. He had a dream from God, a vision of influence and leadership. But before the throne came the pit. Before the crown, the chains. Betrayed by his brothers, sold as a slave, falsely accused, and imprisoned, his path looked nothing like destiny.
But every hardship was preparation. In Potiphar’s house, he learned stewardship. In prison, humility. By the time Pharaoh called, Joseph wasn’t just gifted, he was ready.
Purpose demands formation.
Esther gave up comfort, as a royal Queen, she fasted. Moses spent 40 years serving in obscurity. David was anointed king but returned to the fields. Purpose is not microwaved, it’s marinated. You don’t stumble into it casually. You grow into it intentionally.
Sometimes God delays promotion not because He’s forgotten, but because He’s forming. The deeper the calling, the more intense the preparation, and you know that fire doesn’t destroy gold, it refines it.
Purpose isn’t just about being used, it’s about being usable.
So don’t resist the process. Let the furnace form you. Let pressure mold you, not break you.
Lord, give me grace to endure the fire, strength to obey when it’s hard, and faith to trust that You’re preparing me for what You’ve prepared for me. I choose purpose no matter the price. Amen.
