Sow The Word In Faith
“Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.” – Ecclesiastes 11:1
Luke Short was a farmer in New England who lived to be over 100 years old. Though he was healthy in his body, he did not have peace with God in his spirit. One day at age 103, as he sat in his fields reflecting upon his long life, he recalled a sermon he had heard in Dartmouth as a teen before he sailed to America.
The horror of dying under the curse of God was impressed upon him as he meditated on the words he had heard eighty-five years prior by Pastor John Flavel. The memory of that sermon as a 17-year-old so stirred Luke that he repented of his sins and became a communing and joyful member of the local church.
When he died, Luke had the following gravestone epitaph: “Here lies a babe in grace, aged three years, who died according to nature, aged 106”.
The Lord desires that we tell others about Him, in season and out of season and through every means possible, and He will breathe upon the word and bring an harvest for the Kingdom.
So cast your bread upon the waters, use every means available to you to tell about the love of God, trusting that He will bless your action no matter how long it takes.
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6
