It Is Finished
“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” John 19:30
A lot of times we think that our victory comes from the things we have done, or the people we know, or even our educational qualification.
We somehow think that our efforts at righteousness, fasting, praying and sacrificial giving are the secrets to our success and victory. As plausible as this seems, every New Testament teaching contradicts this position.
The truth is that from end to end our victory proceeds from the Finished Work of Jesus Christ at the Cross. If there was anything more we could have added He would not have said: “IT IS FINISHED”.
He completed the work. He finished the conditions required for our deliverance!
Therefore, every other thing we do follows from this finished work and largely helps us to remain aligned to His will such that we can receive the fullness this Victory provides.
If you keep assuming that your efforts or knowledge are the secrets behind your victory, you rob God of His praise.
This is how the Apostle put it, 1 Cor. 15:57: “But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”.
Jesus put it this way… John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do (achieve) nothing”.
Everything you are and have proceeded from Christ’s Victory. He conquered the Grave, Conquered Satan, and conquered Sin. It is from this Victory that your inheritance proceeds.
So be thankful to God and see yourself as He sees you – VICTORIOUS!
This is the mindset you should have, and when you truly believe this, then you also will conquer as Jesus conquered.
