Stay With God
“The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.” Acts 5:41
In Acts 5, we see how the gospel began to be spread all over starting from Jerusalem. God’s ways are indeed wonderful.
To the simple, It looked like the apostles were being disgraced and pushed back by the ‘powers-that-be’ of that day.
I can imagine the news headline about the flogging event the day after dripping with so much castigation of the “overzealous preachers” with little or no mention of the supernatural prison break.
But the truth is that the elites were at their wit’s end. Clueless and afraid for their future relevance and trying to play god instead of submitting to God.
Whereas the apostles’ influence was increasing day by day and the kingdom of God advancing rapidly.
The apostles knew this and rejoiced. The elites knew too and were scared.
The word here is, ‘Never read the news on the surface value alone, look more closely to know what God is really doing behind the scenes.’
God is the unseen hand, working out everything in accordance with His will. He is systematically enthroning His kingdom and destroying the devil. He is using unconventional ways, unusual circumstances, and even ‘negative’ experiences to push forth His kingdom and government.
Don’t ever get discouraged by seeming disappointments, and don’t be in a hurry to jump to conclusions regarding a strategy or divine assignment because of resistance or seeming danger.
Stay with God! Let him lead you and you will surely have the last laugh.
