Our Gratitude Births Worship
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29
These verses remind us of the incredible gift we have received—a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
In light of this, the writer of Hebrews encourages us to respond with gratitude, acceptable worship, reverence, and awe.
As followers of Jesus, we are partakers of an unshakable kingdom. This kingdom is not subject to the uncertainties, instability, and impermanence of this world. It is a kingdom established by God, founded on His unchanging character and promises. In this kingdom, we find security, peace, and eternal significance.
In response to receiving such a remarkable kingdom, we are called to gratitude. We should continually express thankfulness to God for His grace, mercy, and the privilege of being part of His kingdom.
Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack or the challenges we face to the abundant blessings we have received.
Furthermore, our gratitude should translate into worship. Worship is not limited to our expressions on Sunday mornings but encompasses all areas of our lives.
It involves living in a manner that honors and pleases God, surrendering ourselves wholeheartedly to Him, and giving Him the glory He deserves.
Our worship is to be characterized by reverence and awe. Recognizing that our God is a consuming fire, we approach Him with deep respect and holy fear. We acknowledge His greatness, His holiness, and His power. Our reverence and awe stem from an understanding of who He is and the privilege we have to come into His presence.
