Be Steadfast
“We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:14-15
Scripture warns us not to allow our hearts to become hard. The easiest thing to do is harden our hearts when we experience hard days and challenging circumstances.
The hard thing is to keep our hearts soft and pliable.
When we harden our hearts, we usually try to protect ourselves from being hurt and feeling pain. We end up turning away from God and trying to take care of ourselves on our own. We also create beliefs and convictions based on our experiences instead of God’s holy Word.
When we are hurt and in pain, it can cloud our vision and change how we see things. Our perspective is zeroed in on what we see instead of God’s perspective, who sees all things.
We must intentionally hold to our original conviction, the cross of Jesus Christ, the conviction found in the Bible. Our convictions and hope must be found in Jesus. He must be the foundation of what we believe.
We have a choice to make, to listen to His voice and stand firm on the original conviction, regardless of what we see and what is happening around us. Ask God if areas in your heart need to be softened. Repent for any hardness and choose to look at Jesus and be like him.
