We Cannot Be Overcome
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:1-5
God has always been. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He made all things, and it is through Him that we have life. The light of Jesus shines in even the darkest places, and the darkness cannot and will not overcome Him.
He is victorious and perfect in every way. He is the light of all mankind. We need His light to light not only our world but also our lives.
When we turn on a light in a dark room, light fills the room. Darkness does not and cannot overcome light on its own. We would have to turn off the light switch and partner with the darkness. Darkness is powerless to light.
When light comes, everything is exposed and visible. Darkness is no match for light, even in the natural physical example of turning on lights in a room. How much more powerful is Jesus, the light of the world? He cannot be overcome; He has already overcome the world.
We do not have to be afraid of darkness because we are with Jesus, who is victorious over it.
As followers of Jesus, we carry His light inside us. So, no matter where we go, we bring the Light that cannot be dimmed or turned off. As we go throughout our day, let’s ask God to make us more aware of His bright light through all the darkness and chaos. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
