Cling To What’s Good
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:9-10
Love must be sincere. Our love must be sincere. Jesus showed us sincere love as He hung on the cross with nails in His hands and feet. His love is genuine, and He has proved His love for us time and time again.
We must love others as He loves—not for selfish reasons but because we genuinely and authentically love them. We can only love like this if we have received His love and if we rely on Him to love those around us.
Hate what is evil. Evil is all around us. It can be easy to compromise or think it won’t affect us, but it always will. We must not tolerate evil in our homes or families.
Let’s stand firm on the Word of God and His ways. Evil will always end in destruction. Let it have no place near you or your family.
Cling to what is good.
As we turn from evil, we must cling to Jesus. He is the definition of good. He is the best thing to cling to. To cling means to hold on tightly, so we grab on to Him and refuse to let go.
Be devoted to one another in love.
We can only love others and be devoted to them through Jesus. Ask God to see the people in your life how He sees them; this will help you love them like He loves them.
Honor one another above yourselves. Put the needs of others above yourself. When we are intentional about this, it will reveal how selfish we truly are.
Deliberately look for ways to put the needs of others above you. Go out of your way to bless others.
