Have Respect For Your Covenant
“Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.” Psalm 74:20
When the psalmist cried out, “Have respect unto the covenant,” it was a plea from a heart overwhelmed by trouble. The world around him was dark, filled with cruelty, injustice, and oppression. But even in that darkness, he turned to something unshakable, God’s covenant.
God’s covenant is His sworn promise, sealed by His own faithfulness. It is not based on our perfection but on His character. It reminds us that no matter how difficult things get, we have a God who does not forget His word. He watches over His promises to perform them. Jeremiah 1:12.
When life feels like a dark and cruel place, you can boldly pray like the psalmist: “Lord, remember Your covenant. Remember Your mercy. Step in, as You promised.” His covenant includes protection, provision, guidance, and help.
You are not alone, and you are not helpless. God’s help is your inheritance. His covenant still speaks. And He is still faithful.
Lord, thank You for Your covenant of love and mercy. Even in dark times, I choose to trust in Your promises. Help me, guide me, and fight for me, because You are a covenant-keeping God. Amen.
