The Good Behind The Curtain
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
When we think of God’s goodness, we often imagine comfort, peace, and answered prayers. But Job’s life challenges that picture. He was upright and blameless, yet he suffered. Deeply. Unfairly. And for a time in silence from God.
But behind the scenes, something greater was unfolding.
God’s goodness wasn’t absent in Job’s pain, it was hidden in it.
Romans 8:28 doesn’t say everything is good; it says God works everything for good. That means even ashes, betrayal, loss, confusion, nothing is wasted.
In Job’s story:
– God allowed pain, but never abandoned purpose.
– Job’s faith was tested, but his character was refined.
– His suffering wasn’t punishment; it was preparation.
By the end, Job didn’t just receive double of what he lost, he gained a deeper revelation of who God is. That is goodness: not just restoration, but transformation.
So keep this in mind:
1. God’s goodness isn’t always obvious, but it is always active.
2. Pain can be the soil where purpose grows.
3. What breaks us can also build us, if God is in it.
Father, thank You that You are always working, even in the dark. When I don’t understand, help me to trust. Let every trial in my life be woven into the good You’ve planned. Amen.
