Family. Not Strangers
“So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.” Ephesians 2:19
Our Sonship in Christ is not only about the rights that we enjoy. It is also about nearness!
It’s about belonging. In a world that constantly alienates and fragments, God’s love brings us home.
Before Christ, we were outsiders, spiritually orphaned, estranged from covenant, lost without purpose or covering. But the cross closed up that distance.
Through Jesus, we didn’t just receive forgiveness, we were adopted. Not tolerated, but embraced. Not hired hands, but family.
God didn’t just want us to serve in His house; He wants us to sit at His table.
Sonship is not earned; it is received.
It is not a title we work for, it’s an identity we walk in.
The nearness of sonship means God is not just our Creator, He is our Father.
We can run to Him with joy or weep before Him with brokenness, knowing His heart is always turned toward us.
In this nearness, fear dissolves. We don’t grope in darkness trying to earn His attention, we live daily in His affection.
Father, thank You for bringing me near through Jesus. I am no longer a stranger, no longer lost. Help me walk boldly in the nearness and belonging of sonship. Let this identity shape how I live, love, and serve. Amen.
