You Have A King
“Why do you now cry aloud, have you no king? Has your ruler perished, that pain seizes you like that of a woman in labor?” Micah 4:9
There are seasons in life when the weight of pain, uncertainty, or disappointment hits us so deeply that we feel orphaned, unled, unprotected, and unheard.
That was Israel’s cry in Micah’s day: a people overwhelmed, shaken, and seemingly abandoned!
But God’s question cuts through their fear: “Why are you crying like you have no king?”
For the believer, this is more than just a rebuke. It is a reminder. We still have a King.
When Jesus ascended, He didn’t leave us without leadership. He is our reigning King and has made us kings and priests with Him (Revelation 1:6).
Even when pain grips us, our identity has not changed. Even when things are falling apart, the throne of heaven is still occupied.
Micah 4:9 challenges us not to mourn as though we are powerless or abandoned. No! we are sons and daughters of a reigning King.
We carry royal authority. Our tears are not signs of defeat, but the groanings of hope in labour, knowing something new, is being birthed.
So lift your head. Wipe your tears. Your King is alive and He is not done with you.
Father, remind me in my moments of fear that I am never without a King. Help me walk in the authority and peace of my identity in You. Amen.
