The Proof of Love
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18.
In a world overflowing with empty words, God invites us to demonstrate love through action and not just intentions because love is not merely something we say, but something we show
Anyone can say, “I love you,” but love’s real weight is seen when it costs something, time, patience, forgiveness, and grace.
Jesus didn’t just speak about love; He laid down His life because of it.
1. Love is visible.
Real love shows up in the way we speak gently when we could lash out, in how we serve quietly when no one sees, in choosing compassion over criticism. If love is invisible in our actions, then it’s still incomplete.
2. Love Tells the Truth.
It doesn’t flatter, manipulate, or pretend. It tells the truth, even when it’s hard. God’s love for us never masks the truth, but it always holds it with mercy. We are called to love with that same integrity, not performance, but purity.
3. Love Is Our Identity.
1 John 4:7 reminds us, “Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” Love is not just what Christians do, it’s who we are. When we love well, we reflect our Father.
So, let your life be about living love out loud. Not only with occasional grand gestures, but with consistency. A phone call. A smile. A word of encouragement. A helping hand. A forgiving heart.
Lord, let my life be proof of the love You have shown me. Amen.
