Mercy That Speaks
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16.
God’s mercy is near, personal, fitted, and intentional. It is like a key crafted for the exact shape of your heart.
When we feel unworthy, burdened, or too broken to pray, mercy is the voice that calls us near. It does not wait for us to clean ourselves up or have the right words. Mercy comes down to where we are, in weakness, in failure, in confusion, and gently says, “Come.”
The woman caught in adultery met mercy in the dirt (John 8). Peter met mercy at the shore after denying Jesus (John 21). The thief met mercy on a cross next to Christ (Luke 23). None of them earned it. All of them were met by a mercy that knew their story, and still chose them.
God’s mercy doesn’t push you away; it pulls you in. It draws you boldly to the throne, not of judgment, but of grace. And it gives you what you need, not what you deserve.
This is the mercy that:
– Knows your name.
– Understands your past.
– Sees your weakness.
– And still reaches out with compassion.
Lord, thank You for your mercy that fits me. Thank You for finding me when I had nothing to offer. Give me the courage to draw near, again and again, knowing You delight to receive me. Amen.
