A New Song
“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” Psalm 40:2–3.
David, one of the greatest kings of all times, once found himself in a place of despair. Despite his victories and closeness to God, he experienced seasons where he felt stuck, and overwhelmed.
Life has valleys like that, desert moments where hope feels distant, and the weight of rejection, shame, failure, sorrow or guilt feels like miry clay pulling us down.
But then comes Jesus, gentle, powerful, and full of mercy. He doesn’t watch from a distance. He reaches down, lifts us out of the pit, and sets our feet on solid ground.
That’s who He is, He restores.
He removes our shame, wipes away our past, and opens a new chapter filled with grace.
Where there was silence, He gives a new song. Where there was sorrow, He brings joy. And when He lifts us up, it becomes evident to everyone: this could only have been God.
Now, the Almighty has spoken: your joy has come. This is your new beginning. Your life becomes the testimony, the melody of praise, that points others to the One who rewrites stories and fills them with glory.
Jesus, thank You for doing what only You can do. Amen.
