A Grateful Heart
“For from him and through him and for him are all things.” Romans 11:36
The only thing we need to be thankful is simply an awareness of the blessings God has already given us.
The Bible in Romans 11:36 says about the Lord Jesus, “For from him and through him and for him are all things.”
“All things” encompass both the big and the small – that is – everything in our lives.
According to James 1:17, ‘Everything we receive in life comes directly from our heavenly Father’, and He willingly gives us those gifts out of His love for us.
To appreciate God’s blessings in our life, we need to have a heart that acknowledges God as the source of all the joys we experience each day, especially the ones we often take for granted, the simple or little things that we don’t even pay attention to. The reality is that we are all blessed. We forget easily because we are always looking towards the things we still desire.
Think about the “so much” that God has already given to you? Opening your eyes to those blessings will help you to develop a grateful heart.
Take a few minutes to thank God for what comes to your mind right now. Try to do that often and you would thereby cultivate a grateful heart.
“Thou that hast given so much to me, give one thing more: a grateful heart.” George Herbert
