Are you the “one”?
“Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Luke 17:17–18.
You know the story. Ten lepers cried out to Jesus for mercy and they all received it. With just a word, Jesus healed them as they went. But only one came back to say, “Thank You.”
Jesus asked, “Where are the other nine?” Not because He didn’t know, but because He was showing us something deeper: that gratitude is not just good manners; it is a gateway to deeper fellowship and wholeness.
All ten received healing, but only one was made whole. (Luke 17:19). Thanksgiving didn’t just acknowledge the miracle, it positioned him for more.
Gratitude isn’t optional for the believer. it is powerful and transforming.
It honors God as the source of every blessing and it protects our heart from pride and entitlement.
Gratitude invites more grace because God gives more to the humble (James 4:6)
Gratitude changes our perspective, turning lack into abundance and hardship into testimony
Sometimes we receive answers, breakthroughs, or daily mercies and move on quickly. But the one who pauses to give thanks steps into a richer relationship with God.
Are you among the nine or are you the one?
Make thanksgiving your posture, not just a reaction. Give thanks in all things, and you’ll find yourself walking in peace, joy, and deeper intimacy with the Giver.
Lord, may I never take Your mercy for granted. I return to say thank You, not just for what You’ve done, but for who You are. Amen.
