As Instructed
“And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the 7th day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.” Joshua 6:3-4
A lot of times, when God wants to step in on our behalf, very little is required of us while He moves in and gives us the miracles we need. For instance, think of all the miracles He did in Egypt to free the Israelites from Egyptian bondage. Moses and Aaron carried out simple acts of obedience and miracles happened.
But we must also realize that sometimes, God demands that we put in concerted effort and He would give enough time to have our spiritual muscles stretched before He moves in to give us the miracle we need.
That was what happened in the battle strategy He gave to Joshua concerning Jericho, it was very tasking and demanding. Walking around the city of Jericho once every day was a tiring job in itself. But then they had to do so for six consecutive days and on the seventh day, they walked around the city wall seven times, then gave a shout of praise before the walls fell down flat. I believe it was to preempt them of the wrong mentality of taking God-given victories for granted.
The same applies to us too. Let’s be attentive to receive instructions from God and do as instructed as we wait on our miracle.
