Be Strong And Courageous
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
In Joshua 1, we read that Moses had passed away and that God was calling Joshua to take over and lead the people over the Jordan and into the Promised Land. God reassures Joshua that He will be with him, just as He was with Moses.
God commands Joshua multiple times in this chapter alone to be strong and courageous.
Joshua understood that what God was calling him to do was impossible without the Lord.
He was no longer the number two guy; he was now responsible for leading the nation. Joshua had seen what Moses went through and how he was treated during his time leading. Now, it was his turn.
God told Joshua not to be afraid and to be strong and courageous. He told him that His presence would go with him and that all he needed to do was follow the Lord’s commands and prepare the people for battle to receive their inheritance.
Sometimes, God calls us to things that are beyond us. We think we could never do what He is asking. The reality is that it is true. We cannot do what God asks us to do without Him. We must rely and depend on Him and follow His commands.
We may be overwhelmed by what He has called us to, but God is saying the same thing to us today: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” We can do it because He is with us! Let’s follow His ways and rely on Him to guide us wherever we go.
