Don’t Waste It (1)
“My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” Job 42:5
Pain has a way of stopping us in our tracks. It disrupts comfort, shatters expectations, and forces us into places we would never choose on our own. But in God’s hands, pain is never wasted. It becomes a refining fire, a teacher, a doorway to deeper revelation.
Job’s story is one of deep, undeserved pain. He lost everything, his children, wealth, health, and reputation. His friends misunderstood him, and his questions went unanswered for a time.
Yet, through all the confusion and heartache, Job held on. And in the end, he emerged with something far greater than what he lost: a firsthand encounter with God.
He said, “I had heard of You…but now I see You.”
That is not the voice of a man broken beyond repair. That is the voice of a man transformed through pain into deeper intimacy with his Maker.
Your suffering is not random. Don’t rush past it. Don’t numb it. And don’t waste it. Instead, ask: “What is God trying to reveal to me here?”
Paul, too, found purpose in pain. “That I may know Him…in the fellowship of His sufferings.” Philippians 3:10.
Even Jesus learned obedience through suffering. Hebrews 5:8, and emerged as our High Priest, able to empathize with our weaknesses.
The pain you walk through today can birth a testimony tomorrow, if you let God meet you in it.
Let the trial deepen your trust. Let the fire refine your faith. Let the questions bring you to your knees. And there, you will find that He is not far off. He is near. And in knowing Him, you’ll find that no pain has been wasted.
Lord, help me not to waste the hard seasons. Let my pain not be pointless. Open my eyes to see You in the middle of it. Refine me. Teach me. Heal me. And when I emerge, let me say like Job, I’ve seen You more clearly than ever before. Amen.
