Don’t Waste It (2)
“My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” Job 42:5
Pain is not something we ask for, but it often becomes the very place where God meets us most deeply.
In the furnace of affliction, something precious is forged, an unshakeable knowledge of God that no comfort zone could have given.
Let’s look at Job for instance, after all he endured, loss, grief, confusion, and silence, he reached the powerful conclusion: “I had heard of You, but now I see You.” His pain was not wasted. It became the soil for revelation.
David knew this, too. Before he ever stood before Goliath or wore a crown, he spent years in hiddenness, danger, and deep loneliness. He was chased by Saul, betrayed, misunderstood, even his own family didn’t see his worth.
But in those caves and wilderness places, David sought God.
The psalms he wrote from his afflictions have become songs of healing and hope for generations.
“It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.” Psalm 119:71
Affliction taught David to seek, to wait, to trust, and to worship, not because life was perfect, but because God was present!
Don’t waste your pain.
Don’t rush through your suffering just to feel better. Stay with God in it. Let your tears become prayers. Let your confusion become surrender. Let the silence birth hunger. Hunger for more of God.
David, Job, Joseph, Paul and many others were shaped in sorrow, but they didn’t leave empty. They left with revelation, deeper intimacy, and renewed strength. You can too.
The world says avoid pain at all costs. But heaven often uses it as a tool of preparation. Let your story be one of surrender, not bitterness. Because in God’s hands, nothing is wasted.
Lord, help me not to waste the difficult seasons of my life. Teach me what You want me to learn. Let my pain become a place of deep encounter with You. Show me Your heart in ways I’ve never known. Use this season to transform me from the inside out. Amen.
