Don’t Worry
“With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:3
Have you ever noticed that the command “do not worry about your life” comes immediately after Jesus said “You cannot serve God and mammon” Matthew 6:24.
After all, where is your trust — in God or in money — when you worry about having what you need in this life?
When the money-making, feel-good factor majorly determines one’s life choices then Mammon is taking the lead in such a life.
When the fear of the future or feeling of financial insecurity becomes the dominant thought and reason for action, the state of the heart requires an examination.
You are not serving God when your life’s ultimate goal is making money. It reveals a lack of trust in God. It means you don’t believe God can take care of your life and so you will do better by taking charge of your own life.
You are not trusting God when you are worrying.
Be encouraged about what Jesus said shortly after this command not to worry. He reminded His disciples God cares for even the least in creation, the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, so surely God would care to a greater degree for you.
Instead of worrying about basic necessities, you should focus your attention on deepening your relationship with God.
God will provide for you, regardless of the person, relationship, or situation that causes you concern. He will give you a clear awareness of His provision, as well as vivid memories of how He has provided for you in years past. There is no time for worrying if you truly trust God.
Are you anxious? Fretful? Fearful? Be reminded of the words of Jesus… If the Lord takes such tender care of every bird He ever created, won’t He provide for your every need? His eye is on you even now! So, stop Worrying.
