Faith That Gives Thanks
“Jesus asked, ‘Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?’” Luke 17:17.
Ten lepers cried out to Jesus for mercy. Ten were healed. But only one came back to say thank you. And in response, Jesus asked a powerful question, “Where are the other nine?”
This moment shows that gratitude matters to God. Not because He needs our thanks to feel important, but because thanksgiving reveals the posture of our hearts. The one who returned didn’t just express good manners; he demonstrated faith. In fact, Jesus said to him, “Your faith has made you well.” (Luke 17:19)
Thanksgiving is a spiritual decision. It says, “God, I trust You. I see what You’ve done. I know You’re the source of every good gift.” It’s easy to give thanks when things go well. But even in difficulty, thanksgiving is a declaration: “I still believe. I still trust.”
Gratitude keeps your heart aligned with heaven. It guards you from entitlement, bitterness, and forgetfulness. And more than that, thanksgiving is rewarded. The one leper who returned received not only physical healing but spiritual wholeness.
Remember what God has done. Thank Him, not just for what you see now, but for what you trust He’s still working out.
Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve received from You but failed to return with thanks.
I choose gratitude. I thank You for Your grace, Your faithfulness, and Your hand in my life. Amen.
