Give God Attention
“When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you friend or foe?” “Neither,’ he replied, ‘but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.’ Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, ‘What message does my Lord have for his servant?'” Joshua 5:13-14
After demonstrating his brilliance as a military commander in the early years of the Civil War America, General Ulysses Grant was called back to Washington in March 1864 to be made a lieutenant general and put in command of all Union forces in the field. When Grant checked into his hotel in Washington, the clerk failed to recognize the general, who was rather shabbily dressed. The clerk was about to give his guest a back room on an upper floor of the hotel when someone saw Grant in the lobby and called out his name in greeting. The startled clerk quickly realized his error in evaluating his guest and reassigned the General to a better room.
We also need to seek the Lord and ask Him: “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” Seek to do the will of Christ and let others see Christ at work in you.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” – James 1:22
