God’s Goodness Holds, Even When Life Breaks
“But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold.” Job 23:10
When Job spoke these words, he was in a dark place, confused, afflicted, and seemingly unheard by God!
Yet, from within the silence and suffering, Job clung to one unshakable truth: God is still good, and He is still refining me.
This is the kind of faith that anchors the soul, not because circumstances are clear but because God’s character is!
Job wasn’t holding on to explanations; he was holding on to essence. He believed that even when God felt absent, He was still present and still good.
God’s goodness is not something He turns on or off. It is who He is. He is good at giving and in withholding, in the sunshine, and in the shadow. We are not promised a life without suffering, but we are promised a God who is unchanging, refining us through the fire.
Lord, help me trust Your heart when I can’t trace Your hand. Let Your goodness be my confidence, not just when things go well, but especially when they don’t. Refine me through the trials, and make me come forth as gold. Amen.
