God’s Goodness Is A Sure Anchor
“Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him…” Job 13:15
In the midst of unimaginable suffering, Job utters one of the most astonishing statements of trust in the goodness of God. He is not saying God is cruel, he is saying, even when I don’t understand His hand, I will trust His heart!
This is the depth of trust that sees God’s goodness not as a product of our comfort, but as an unchanging anchor, something firm when everything else falls apart.
Job lost wealth, children, health, and the support of his friends and wife. And yet, he didn’t curse God.
This is because Job’s confidence wasn’t in blessings, it was in God’s character.
God’s goodness is not defined by what He gives or what He withholds. It is who He is. His goodness is not on trial during our pain, it is our refuge during it.
When nothing makes sense, God’s goodness anchors our soul. Not because we see the end, but because we know the One who holds the end.
Lord, help me to trust You when life is hard. Let me rest in Your goodness, even when things are uncertain. Be the anchor of my soul, and teach me to hope in You beyond what I see. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
