Great Is Thy Faithfulness
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
Thomas Chisholm was born in Franklin, Kentucky on July 29, 1866, in a log cabin and became a teacher at age 16. He became a Christian at age 27 during a revival meeting and served as a Methodist minister for just one year before resigning due to poor health.
Thomas wrote over 1,200 sacred poems over his lifetime and had more than his share of rejection letters from publishers.
At age 57-years, he wrote the popular song “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”
Later when asked how he wrote the hymn, he said there was no special circumstance surrounding it. He simply wrote about God’s faithfulness from studying the Bible and reflecting upon his own life.
The Lord loves us with an everlasting love and cares about every detail of our lives, so let your heart’s song to the Lord be “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”.
