He Delights To Do You Good
“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” Isaiah 30:18.
This verse reveals the tender, pursuing heart of God. He is not indifferent toward us. He longs to be gracious, and that longing is rooted in love.
God delights to do you good. In Jeremiah 32:41, He says, “I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul”
Even when we fall short, God doesn’t withdraw in anger. “He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities” Psalm 103:10. His heart leans toward mercy, not judgment, “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love”. Psalm 103:8.
He rises, not to punish, but to show compassion, because His nature is goodness, “You are good, and what you do is good” Psalm 119:68.
He delights in making things right for His children. “For the Lord loves justice and will not forsake his faithful ones” Psalm 37:28.
There is no shadow in His love. “The Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” James 1:17.
He doesn’t hold back grace, “He gives more grace” James 4:6. His plans for you are always good, never evil, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11.
His goodness is not seasonal or earned, it is constant, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life” Psalm 23:6.
So when you wait on Him, trust not just His timing, but His heart, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” Psalm 27:14.
The God who waits to be gracious to you is the same God who rejoices over you with singing. “He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing” Zephaniah 3:17.
Always remember this: His desire is only ever to do you good, “No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly” Psalm 84:11.
