He Loves Us Sunday Much
“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9
In the book of 1 John, we are reminded of the incredible love that God has for us. He tells us that God demonstrated this love by sending his one and only Son, Jesus, into the world. Through Jesus, we can have eternal life and truly live.
This verse is a powerful reminder of the depth of God’s love for us. He didn’t just send an angel or a prophet, but His own Son. Jesus was fully God and fully man, and He came to earth to live among us and to ultimately sacrifice Himself on the cross for our sins. This is the ultimate act of love.
But it’s not just a one-time event, this love is ongoing.
Jesus said in John 14:23 “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” When we obey Jesus’ teachings and love Him, we can experience the ongoing presence of God and His love in our lives.
This love of God is not only for a select few, but for everyone. It’s not based on our abilities, talents, or accomplishments, but on the grace of God.
It’s a love that is unearned and unmerited. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
When we understand and accept this love, it changes everything. We can live in peace, knowing that we are loved and accepted just as we are.
We can have hope, knowing that we have eternal life through Jesus. And we can love others, because we have experienced the love of God ourselves.
