Keep Your Lights On
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. You don’t light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, so it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” Matthew 5:14-16
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world,” and has commanded you to let your light shine that you may give glory to your Heavenly Father.
Though this world is becoming more ungodly and dark, yet, by a deep contrast, we, the saints of the Lord will shine brighter! A candle in a bright room isn’t particularly significant or easy to notice, however, a candle in the darkness offers the only source of guidance for movement.
When Jesus warned that the love of many will wax cold in Matthew 24:12, He implied that those who remain loving will really stand out. The darkness of these evil days requires and will produce greater faith and greater love.
The world is testing our love and trying to quench our light. How will we respond? Will we wimp out, be extinguished, and grow cold? Or will we recognize that the resistance we face is God’s way of building faith and love in His disciples?
Be encouraged, don’t be tired, you can’t quit now! The one who cannot lie has declared you the light, you are nothing less. Keep your lights on!
