Know The Lord
“Pharaoh said, “Who is the LORD that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go.” Exodus 5:2
Pharaoh revealed a secret here. It is difficult to obey a God that you don’t know.
This is the reason why many of us still disobey God. When we grow in the Knowledge of God and see his “many-sided” wisdom and glory, obeying Him becomes a delight rather than a burden.
And one of the secrets of righteousness in Christ is that the more we know Him, the more we want to know Him even more.
This growth in knowledge of the Lord introduces us to the beauty of the God we serve and this just makes obeying Him to be a delight out of the love we have for Him and what he represents in our lives.
Obeying God out of coercion or simply to meet a need will eventually prove to be burdensome and will only amount to a mere religious ritual.
Pharaoh expressed truth in that it is when a man knows the Lord that obeying Him will be possible. Our level of obedience, therefore, is a reflection of how much of the Lord we really know.
Let us spend more time in His word. Let’s devote time to worshipping Him, for as we know Him more, obeying Him will become easier and a delight.
