Love Mercy
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8
God makes his requirements plain: walk humbly, act justly, and love mercy.
Mercy is who God is.
The story is told of a man who ran from God for over 30 years. When he finally came to Christ, someone asked, “Didn’t you do your part in getting saved?” He smiled and said, “Yes, my part was running. His part was chasing me down with mercy.” That’s the truth for many of us. We didn’t find God, He found us with His mercy.
And now, He invites us to do the same, to love mercy the way He loves it. Not reluctantly or sparingly. Not just when it’s easy or deserved, but to love it, to choose mercy when it is inconvenient, when justice alone would feel more satisfying, when others might not show mercy.
Loving mercy means giving people room to grow. It means covering faults, believing the best, forgiving without keeping score, and reflecting God’s heart instead of reacting from our wounds.
Mercy found you. Now let mercy flow through you.
Lord, thank You for the mercy You’ve shown me, repeatedly, patiently, and without condition. Teach me not only to show mercy but to love it, to live with a heart that delights in forgiveness, restoration, and compassion. Amen.
