Put Your Praise On It
“But about midnight, as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them…” Acts 16:25.
A study of the books of Acts chapter 16 shows that Paul and Silas were thrown in Prison for doing a good thing – casting out a demon from a slave girl.
Imagine being beaten and disgraced publicly for following God’s instruction! As if that is not enough, they get thrown into prison with criminals without trial just because you set a possessed slave girl free from demonic oppression!
However, in all this, Paul and Silas didn’t grumble or throw a pity party, rather, they raised their voices in praise. It was not even in a hushed tone but in a loud and bold session of worship. Who does that in a prison?
You would think prison time is a time for sober reflection, and that praise is supposed to follow a breakthrough.
But No! Gratitude is an attitude. An attitude of those who are secure in their identity no matter the circumstances.
Remember the Israelites, they walked around with their horns and trumpets for seven days, then the great wall of Jericho came crashing down at their praise chant on the seventh day. Joshua 6.
Also, the three Hebrew faithful men were seen walking, most likely in a praise party in the fiery furnace. Daniel 3.
Jesus gave thanks over the five loaves and two fish before the multiplication happened. Luke 9:16, Matthew 14:19.
Your life too is a testimony, so put your praise on it. Thanksgiving is indeed True living! Be Grateful to God, in Him you are secure forever.
