Rely on His Love
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world, we are like Jesus.” 1 John 4:16-17
There is a quiet, unshakable power in truly relying on the love of God. Not just knowing it, but leaning on it, resting in it, building our confidence and identity from it.
We often rely on many things, our strength, achievements, relationships, or even our ability to “do right.”
But Scripture invites us to a better foundation: the unchanging love of God!
To live in love is to let God’s love shape how we see ourselves and others. It changes how we speak, give, forgive, and respond. This kind of love isn’t performative, it is transformational.
The miracle is this: as we live in God’s love, we begin to reflect Jesus in this world. Not perfectly, but progressively. We love more generously. We forgive more freely. And we stop striving to earn what’s already ours: His acceptance.
That’s why we can have confidence, even on the day of judgment, not because of what we have done, but because we are in Christ and Christ is in us.
When you feel unsure of yourself, pause and say: “I rely on God’s love.” That is where your strength lies.
Lord, help me not just to know about Your love but to live in it, trusting, receiving, and reflecting it daily. Amen.
