Rest For You
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.
In our present world that is full of constant motion, deadlines, pressures, and noise, rest can feel like a luxury, or worse, like weakness. But to God, rest is not optional. It’s holy. It’s healing. It’s His gift.
God Himself modeled rest. After six days of creation, the Almighty rested on the seventh, not because He was tired, but to set a rhythm for us to follow (Genesis 2:2–3).
Jesus, too, extended an invitation to the weary: Come to Me… and I will give you rest.
This rest is not just physical, it’s rest for the soul:
Rest from striving and from proving. Rest from carrying burdens we were never meant to bear
Hebrews 4:9-10 reminds us: “There remains a rest for the people of God… whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works.”
The rest God gives is a deep confidence that He is in control. It is peace in the storm, calm in the chaos, and quiet in the soul even when the world is loud.
But to receive it, we must come. Come with our exhaustion, our questions, our burnout, and surrender to the One who holds us. Rest is not found in a vacation, it’s found in His presence.
Lord, I come to You tired and burdened. Teach me to rest in You. Quiet my soul and remind me that I don’t have to carry everything alone. Thank You for the gift of rest, not just for my body, but for my soul. I receive Your peace today. Amen.
