Sons
“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:22
You are forgiven. You are redeemed.
According to Galatians 4, those outside Jesus are described as being “…under the law”. This refers to their subjection to the elements and spirits tormenting the world today.
However, for us, the Bible declares that we are “sons”. This is very significant and reflects our relationship with the Almighty God, the creator of the heavens and the earth.
Many people today only can relate to God as a Holy and Righteous God, which they cannot draw near to, but they find it difficult to relate to God as a father.
We cannot blame them, for the law prescribed that the sinful man must stay FAR from the Mountain of God
Exodus 19:18 “Put limits for the people around the mountain and tell them, ‘Be careful that you do not approach the mountain or touch the foot of it. Whoever touches the mountain is to be put to death…”
For us, however, the relationship is different. We are no longer strangers, but sons.
Romans 8:15 says, “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
They feared God severely. This fear was one of impending judgment and vengeance for sins and offences, but in Christ, we walk in the liberty and freedom of the forgiven.
By His spirit, we are true sons and we are compelled from within to call Him, Abba, Abba (Daddy! Daddy!). This is our heritage.
Instead of staying far as prescribed at Sinai, we are called to draw near to Mount Zion.
Let us walk in this consciousness. We have passed from death to life, from fear to freedom of faith, from sickness to health, from hell to heaven.
Therefore, rejoice and dig deep in God’s Word, rooting yourself in truth such that you can fully enjoy all He has called you to be.
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16
