Sweeter Than Honey
“They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.” Psalm 19:10
In Psalm 19:10, David compares the value and sweetness of God’s word to the most precious of earthly treasures – gold and honey.
In his poetic expression of praise, the David declares the incomparable worth and delight found in the teachings of God.
The imagery of sweetness evokes a sense of delight and pleasure associated with the word of God. Just as honey from the honeycomb delights the senses with its sweetness, so too does the word of God bring joy and satisfaction to the soul.
It satisfies our spiritual hunger and nourishes us with His wisdom and truth.
Let us savour the sweetness of God’s word in our lives, treasuring it as the ultimate source of nourishment and delight.
May we seek after its truths with eagerness and enthusiasm, allowing it to satisfy our souls and guide us in the paths of righteousness.
Dear Father, thank You for the sweetness of Your word, which delights and nourishes our souls. Help us to treasure Your word above all earthly treasures, recognizing its immeasurable value and significance in our lives. Amen.
