The Good Shepherd
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.” Psalm 23:1-3
Our God is the Good Shepherd, and the Good Shepherd takes care of our every need. When we are with our Good Shepherd, relying on Him we will lack nothing. Instead, we will have all that we need and we will actually have rest, regardless of our circumstances.
What does it mean to live in a way where we lack nothing? In Philippians, Paul gives us great insight.
“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:11-13
The secret to lacking nothing and being content in every circumstance is to always rely on God, the One who gives us true strength.
When we have Him we have all that we need.
To live in a way where we believe that He is all that we need and with Him we lack nothing, we have to be fully dependent on Him.
Allowing Him to be our Good Shepherd who takes care of and provides our every need. When we rely on Him for our strength, we are strong and have rest. But, if we strive and try to do things on our own we will be lacking and have no rest.
In 2023, decide to depend on Him.
Believe that He is your Good Shepherd.
Rely on Him for your strength.
He is truly all that you need. Amen.
