The One Who Returned
“Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:17-19
In Luke 17, there is a beautiful story of Jesus healing ten lepers. After they all receive complete healing from leprosy, only one comes back to praise and thank Jesus. Jesus even asks where the other nine are.
He just did the impossible in their bodies, and they got so distracted with their freedom that they forgot to thank the One who freed them.
These other nine were probably not terrible people; they were probably just so excited to get back into society, see people they had not seen, and do things they had not done in a long time.
None of that is wrong, and we should walk out in our freedom when He sets us free. But we cannot forget the One who gave us the freedom. Jesus is the reason they are free.
Jesus is the reason we are free!
How do we become the ones who always come back and thank Jesus before walking out in our freedom?
We keep our eyes and focus on Him. We remember that all we have comes from Him in the first place.
Take a moment and thank God for what He has given you and what He has done for you recently. Continue to enjoy what He has given you, but be the one that comes back and thanks Him.
