Travel Light
“The Lord himself will go before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forget you. Don’t be afraid and don’t worry.” Deuteronomy 31:8
One lesson that smart travellers learn is that you can’t take it all with you and that it is important to travel light.
This means to leave behind the heavy Samsonite suitcase and use a much lighter one. Getting nailed at the airport for overweight luggage often costs more than buying a lighter suitcase.
Travelling light is important not only when you fly, but it’s equally important in how you live.
Lots of people carry heavy baggage that they don’t have to.
The Bible says, “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you” (Psalm 55:22).
This is something that you must do and the care to cast includes the burdens, worries, concerns over health, wealth, and the future.
The excess baggage may be painful memories, resentment or anger against someone who has hurt you, a deep-seated fear that something may happen to you. You don’t need to carry all these.
Let your mind rather dwell on your maker’s good thoughts towards you. Refuse to dwell on that excess baggage. In fact, cut them off and make sure you always travel light.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
