Warning Signs
“Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.” – Proverbs 3:13-14
In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina affected millions of people in the vicinity of New Orleans. The category 5 storm caused $125 billion in damage and killed 1,800 people.
One of the main reasons the storm was so devastating was that a huge percentage of the population didn’t evacuate despite mandatory evacuation notices and precise weather data that showed the strength, size, and direction of the coming storm.
Less than a month later, when Hurricane Rita roared ashore along the Texas-Louisiana state line, the aftermath of the storm wasn’t nearly as disastrous. But this time, people learned wisdom. Galveston, Texas, for instance, a coastal city with a population of 58,000, was almost a ghost town a full three days before Hurricane Rita was scheduled to make landfall. They took it very seriously – mainly because of hurricane Katrina.
The Lord has sent us that are still on this side of heaven several warning signs through His Living Word, it is, therefore, wisdom to heed His Warning Signs.
