When God Makes Room
And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, saying, ‘For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.’” Genesis 26:22
Sometimes, life can feel like a series of closed doors, striving, opposition, delay, and rejection. Isaac knew this well. After re-digging the wells of his father Abraham, he faced resistance from the herdsmen of Gerar. Each time he made progress, someone stepped in to oppose him. But Isaac didn’t give up. He moved forward, and he kept digging.
Then came Rehoboth. A place where there was no quarrel. A space that spoke of peace, provision, and promise. Isaac recognized this moment not as luck or coincidence but as God’s divine intervention. “For now, the Lord has made room for us,” he said, “and we shall be fruitful in the land.”
You may be in seasons where you are pressing through resistance. It could be at work, in relationships, in ministry, or in your personal walk with God. The story of Rehoboth should remind you that the delays and difficulties are not the end of the story because God makes room.
God sees your perseverance. He honors your obedience. And at the right time, He brings you into a spacious place.
Rehoboth doesn’t come without opposition. Rather, it comes because God is faithful.
Sometimes, the delays prepare us for the fruitfulness that Rehoboth brings. Keep digging. Keep trusting. Your Rehoboth is on the way.
Lord, thank You that You are the God who makes room for me. Even in seasons of opposition, help me to keep moving forward in faith. Lead me to my Rehoboth, where peace replaces striving, and where I can flourish by Your hand. I trust You to enlarge my territory and bring fruitfulness in Your time. Amen.
