When My Heart Is Overwhelmed
“From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Psalm 61:2
There are times when the weight is just too much to bear, the responsibilities pile up, and the will and strength to pray is just not there. The pressure to keep going feels unbearable. In those moments you are unsure of what to do next. Yet in
David knew what it meant to be overwhelmed, hunted, betrayed, weary and yet, he didn’t try to fix it all himself. He cried out to God. Not just with words, but with his whole heart. His request was simple but profound: “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
There is a Rock, unshakable, unchanging, unmoved by storms. That Rock is Jesus. When your heart is overwhelmed, don’t try to figure everything out on your own. Don’t pretend to be strong. Run to the One who is. Let Him lift you above the chaos, above the flood of emotions, into a place of peace.
God doesn’t expect you to carry it all. He simply asks you to come.
Lord, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to You. Be my Rock, my Refuge, and my strength. Help me to rest in Your presence and trust in Your peace. I can’t do it all, but I don’t have to, because You are with me. Amen.
