Wrestling For More
“Then Jacob was left alone, and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.” Genesis 32:24
In the quiet of night by the river Jabbok, Jacob faced more than fear, he faced himself. This wasn’t just a wrestling match with a stranger; it was a divine encounter. Jacob was at a crossroad, fleeing his past, uncertain of his future. Alone and desperate, he wrestled with God.
And he wouldn’t let go.
Not until the blessing came.
Jacob’s struggle wasn’t just physical, it was also spiritual. He was tired of living in his own strength, manipulating outcomes. That night, he reached the end of himself, and found God there.
*Key truths from Jacob’s encounter:*
– Sometimes God meets us in struggle, not comfort.
– Breakthrough comes when we stop resisting and start clinging.
– God isn’t offended by your desperation, He honors it.
– When God touches your life, you may walk with a limp, but you’ll carry a new name.
Jacob came in as a struggler and left as Israel, a prince with God. He was broken, yet blessed.
Lord, I don’t want to live in survival mode anymore. I want a real encounter with You. I won’t let go until You change me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
