You Are Light
“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
As Christians we are the light of the world and we are not to hide our lights or be silent.
Lights are not meant to be hidden.
Wherever there is light, everyone around can see and experience it. Just as we do not have light bulbs at home and hide them in drawers, we keep them fixed in the lampholders in strategic places, and we turn them on in whatever room we are in. When we turn them out, it is evident to everyone in the room.
Likewise, we are to let our lights shine so that Jesus can be glorified. It is about us pointing others to Him.
When we know Jesus, obey Jesus, and do what He did, we are shining His light and making His name known to those around us.
To let our lights shine, we must live and act like Jesus and not be shy or timid. He is our savior and the light of the word.
Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
Walking in His light means that you are not ashamed of Him and His ways. If you have shame or the temptation to stay silent, ask God to know more about who He is and His love for you and those around you.
Don’t be ashamed of the gospel.
Let His light shine through you
