Your Prayers Will Be Answered
“…She was a widow of about 84 years old and never left the temple, but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.” Luke 2:37
At this time most Israelites were angry about the Roman occupation of their land and didn’t understand God’s plan for salvation but Simeon knew Jesus was coming, and the Holy Spirit had told him he wouldn’t die until he saw the Messiah. When eventually Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to be dedicated, Simeon took the boy in his arms and declared that He was the “light for revelation to the Gentiles” (Luke 2:32). Simeon finally got his prayers answered after decades of waiting.
Then also Anna who had been praying and fasting continually in the temple, asking God to send the Savior. She looked beyond the bleak circumstances and dared to ask God for a miracle.
Like Simeon, she too immediately recognized Jesus as the answer to her prayers and began telling everyone that their long wait was over. She reminds us that God openly rewards those who pray in secret.
You may not exactly understand what is going on in our own times, the economic ups and downs, covid -19, vaccines and all sorts. But you can pray and the one who prays can influence outcomes.
So, are you praying for something that seems to be beyond your grasp or you are worried about what the future holds for you, or the storm around you is raging so fiercely, yet remember that God is still in total control and He sure still answers prayers.
Resolve to stay in faith. Your God is in control, He hears your secret prayers and like Simeon and Anna, your reward will come openly in His time.
