You’re Not Alone
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18.
Loneliness can be a silent ache, a deep void that no crowd, no conversation, and no achievement can fill. It’s not just the absence of people; it’s the absence of connection, of understanding, of presence. But even in that place, God sees. He knows. He feels it with you.
Jesus, our Emmanuel (God with us) understands the aching void. He faced it in Gethsemane, when even His closest friends fell asleep in His deepest hour of sorrow. He faced it on the cross, crying, “My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
He is not distant from your pain, He entered it.
The lyrics from the worship song “Draw Me Close To You” capture that longing we all carry:
“You’re all I want, You’re all I’ve ever needed… Help me know You are near.”
This is a prayer, a cry of the soul for divine nearness.
When you whisper, “No one else will do,” heaven hears. Because only God truly fits the shape of that void. Only His embrace warms the cold silence of isolation. Only His voice can affirm, “You are My friend.”
Let this be your rest today: know that you are not forgotten and you are not forsaken.
You are not alone, even when you don’t feel Him, He is near, closer than your next breath, holding you in the unseen places.
Lord, You are all I want. You are all I’ve ever needed. I lay down my fears, my aching heart, and my loneliness. Wrap me in Your presence. Remind me that You are near. Be my comfort, my companion, my Emmanuel. Amen.
